Travel services

Matkahuolto grants the following discounts off of the normal adult fare on single tickets for travel within Finland. The discounts apply to a minimum distance of 80 km and the tickets must be purchased in advance. Each passenger is only entitled to one discount.

 or the Finnish Railways VR or on presentation of a student identity card

issuedby a student union showing Matkahuolto's logoprinted on the card,

Pensioners on presentation of the Social InsuranceInstitution Card

(Kela card) complete with a photographand Matkahuolto's, VR's or

Finnair's logo printed on thecard, or on presentation of Matkahuolto's

Pensioner Card. Individuals over the age of 65 will be entitled to the

discounton presentation of an identity card, passport,or driving license.        30%

A maximum of two children under 4 will be able  to

travel free when the group includes on passenger who is 12 or older.

Passengers are required to present a card or document showing that they are entitled to the discount when boarding the bus.

Tickets for trips including a transfer

 

Single bus tickets for trips of at least 80 km including 1-2 transfers will be priced according to the total distance travelled, if the cost of the trip calculated in this way would lower than the price payable for separate tickets for each leg of the journey. Since the discounts awarded to young people include a range of options specific to individual towns and fleet operators, youth fares with transfers are processed as separate trips regardless of the total distance travelled.

 

Period of validity of bus tickets

 

Bus tickets purchased from Matkahuolto are valid for a period of one (1) month from the date of purchase or from the date of departure indicated on the ticket. Seat reservations are only valid for the departure indicated on the ticket.

Discounts are calculated on the theoretical basic rate confirmed by the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

Adults, discount 25%

22-Trip Annual Ticket

 

The discounts are calculated on the adult fare applied by Matkahuolto.

Adults, discount 15 %

Children aged 4 to 11, discount             50 %

Period of validity of annual tickets

 

The 44- and 22-trip annual tickets are valid for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase.
