Cash on delivery

Cash on Delivery (COD) can be used with the Bus Parcel and Delivery Parcel services. The consignee claims the COD consignment at the point of destination by paying the amount indicated on the address card.

E5DV0210Once the consignee has claimed the package, Matkahuolto will credit the amount
to the consignor by depositing it in the bank account entered on the address card.
Matkahuolto's Parcel Service makes
use of a bar code system that lets you track and trace the delivery via the Internet.

The COD charge can be paid by either the consignor or the consignee.
The price is based on the total weight of the
consignment irrespective of distance. The then-current COD charge will be added to the freight.

The amount of the COD will be credited to the consignor's account on the first banking day following the arrival of the consignment.

If the consignor has a bank account with
Nordea, the amount will immediately show up in his or her account.

If the consignor has a bank account in another bank, the amount will be transferred to his or her bank account in 2–3 banking days.

Matkahuolto?s agency as the destination


The agent will forward the amount of the COD to Matkahuolto within four days of the date when the consignment is claimed, after which Matkahuolto will credit the amount to the consignor. If all of the parties involved in these transactions have accounts in different banks, there may be delays in the amount reaching its final destination due to banking days, weekends and holidays.
It will take 8–14 banking days from the date when the consignment is claimed for the amount to be credited to the consignor.

To ensure efficient monitoring of the payments, it is important that the amounts agents have collected go through Matkahuolto first.

Returning unclaimed COD orders


A consignment will be returned to the consignor in 21 days if the consignee fails to claim the goods. If the consignee fails to claim the consignment within 14 days of acceptance for carriage, the consignor will be contacted for further instructions. Depending on the instructions provided, the consignment will either be returned right away or kept for another 7 days, after which it will be returned to the consignor.
